How To Make Your Shopfront More Attractive.

3/5/2019

A glass ‘shopfront’ is great for getting natural light into a space, but it’s also a way to show off your products/interior to people from the outside and grab their attention.

Sometimes though just a glass facade on its own doesn’t do the job. Whether the task is to add a perception of privacy, add a design feature to enhance the character, or creatively get around cost or planning issues, the following 2 images are great examples of getting the best out of a glass shopfront.

Glass facade storefront with graphics on an ice cream desert shop interior
The first image is an ice cream parlour, with an Italian influence. Look at the way the entrance has been completely transformed to look like an arch with the panel detailing either side. Very simple but it helps with psychologically changing the feeling of entering, and the panel details are at a height that perfectly puts the ice cream on the counter into view.

Stenciled glass shopfront of a retail store interior
The second image is a retail shop inside a larger shopping centre. Obviously there’s contractual, planning and spatial conditions that can apply in these places so what a great way to get around it by using graphics on the glass. Again, they’ve really enhanced the visual character of the shopfront but the main feature here is the framing of the products, each one obviously stands out between the graphical columns which play their role superbly by allowing the products to become the main focus.

Hopefully this helps or inspires anyone out there with glass shopfronts (or even just large windows or glass internal features) to show there are many ways to get around things like privacy, enhancing the character, or getting around cost or planning issues.
